About the Role
Roll Call is seeking an experienced and respected politics editor to manage its campaign team. We’re looking for someone who generates distinctive story ideas, identifies trends in advance of the competition and inspires reporters to produce high-impact dailies and enterprise stories. This job involves making sense of House and Senate campaigns, as well as the presidential race. That includes the influence of the key players — PACs, advocacy groups and public sentiment.

We want an editor with a strong ethical compass, management acumen and the ability to represent Roll Call on-air and at public events. The politics editor at times will be expected to produce or contribute to unique content, such as columns, podcasts, and videos. The ideal candidate will make order out of chaos, drawing upon outstanding organizational skills and the ability to make sound decisions quickly.

You Will:
- Effectively manage a talented staff of political writers
- Edit and write high-impact stories on deadline
- Facilitate multi-platform content- Encourage alternative storytelling techniques
- Work with other editors and their teams to ensure smooth workflow
- Help maximize Roll Call’s social media presence

You Have:
- Strong journalistic instincts and impeccable ethical judgment
- A desire to produce high-impact journalism that is nonpartisan and carefully reported
- Command of AP Style
- The ability to work collaboratively with people in a variety of roles
- 6+ years of experience reporting and editing in a fast-paced news environment
- Proficiency with WordPress

- Experience editing text for video and information graphics
- Experience with HTML
