Universities across the country are hosting hackathons this fall, and FiscalNote will be making the rounds recruiting talented engineers! Earlier this month, from Oct 4-5, we sponsored HackMIT at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, and this past Halloween weekend, from Oct 31-Nov 2, we sponsored YHack at Yale University in New Haven, CT.
With over 1,500 students attending from various universities across North America, YHack was one of the year’s biggest hackathons. Students spent a total of 36 hours building their projects, and the event culminated with finalists providing two-minute elevator pitches to the entire crowd. To provide some extra treats for this Halloween-themed event, FiscalNote awarded four iPad Minis to the team with the most Facebook shares of why they are #FNawesome.
As an event sponsor, FiscalNote also ran a booth introducing students to the possibilities of utilizing open data and predictive analytics. Students had the opportunity to ask FiscalNote’s mentors for insight into any questions they had regarding machine learning and artificial intelligence.
